WHY AM I LOSING MY HAIR?
Everyone loses between 40 to 100 hairs a day. This is natural for everyone; however, some people experience an abnormal amount of hair loss due to heredity, hormones, stress, illness, medication, age, infections, or trauma. In men, this condition is commonly referred to as male pattern baldness and can be caused by the male hormone testosterone, stress, and/or heredity. Women may experince thinning hair over the entire crown and hair loss due to hormone-related irregularities, thyroid conditions, stress, age and/or heredity.
ARE THERE ANY PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AVAILABLE WHICH WILL HELP ME REGROW MY HAIR?
Although Propecia and Rogain have been known to effectively treat hair loss, it has been proven effective in only 20 to 30 percent of the users in clinical studies. There are side effects and you must maintain use of the product for it to be effective. We recommend you seek the advise of your physician to see if these treatments would be right for you. We strongly advise you to use caution when purchasing any over-the-counter or online products, which claim to cure hair loss.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS
AT IVIE'S HAIR
1)
Laser Hair Therapy - Low Level Laser Light Therapy involves taking
20-minute therapy session twice weekly to prevent future hair loss. Some
clients have their hair grow thicker and healthier looking in a matter of
4-12 months.
2)
Hair Transplants - Hair transplantation is an art and it is important
to find the right surgeon. If the donor hair is sufficient and the top is
not completely lost, this is a great option for many clients.
3)
Hair Replacement - Hair grafting is a great option for those with too
much hair loss for the above methods to help. The process involves a matrix
similar to an eighth layer of skin to be non-surgically grafted on the
seventh layer. Then the human hair is cut and styled to seamlessly blend
into your hair.
4)
Human Hair Extensions - This method involves adding small amount of
hair to all areas to thicken 10-20%. This works well for minor hair loss.
It is not at all recommended for someone actively losing large amounts of
hair.
5)
Propecia for Men and Rogaine for Women - These are available as a
hair loss solution and are effective in the top and crown for 20-30% of the
clients choosing this treatment. Please consult your physician before
starting any prescription or over the counter drugs.
